The countdown is on for the Red Dot Award: product design 2010 awards ceremony.

On Monday, 5 July 2010, the winners of the red dot award: product design 2010 will be honoured at a festive ceremony in the Essen Aalto Theater by eminent representatives from design, business, and politics. Following the awards ceremony, the winners will be celebrated until the early morning hours at the legendary Designers’ Night. Design lovers from all over the world have already announced their attendance at this impressive gala.

This year’s competition issued some 830 red dot awards, 45 were furthermore prized with the red dot: best of the best. At the ceremony, these special awards for outstanding design performance will be conferred to each of the recipients on stage.

The event will start at 4 pm in the red dot design museum with a preview of the special exhibition “A Day by Design – winners red dot award: product design 2010”, featuring all award-winning products. The red dot: design team of the year 2010, the Hilti Design Team, will present itself in the special exhibition “Hilti. Designed for Use.”. At 6 pm, the actual ceremony will then begin in Essen’s Aalto Theater. This year as well, the ceremony can boast an impressive cultural program: the star pianist Nikolai Tokarev enchant the listeners with his virtuoso performance. As well, the Aalto Ballett Theater Essen will dance parts of the ballet “La Vie en Rose”.

Following the awards ceremony, the traditional “Winners’ Dinner” by star chef Frank Rosin will allow winners and guests of honour to eat, drink, and socialize in a convivial atmosphere. Starting at 8.30 pm, the red dot design museum will then open its doors for the “Designers’ Night” with DJ Fishi which will include the vernissage of the two special exhibitions and where all winners will be celebrated until the early morning hours.
